Fort Wayne's Excellon Technologies Partners on Sensor Technology
FORT WAYNE, Ind., November 8, 2004 – Excellon Technologies Inc. (www.excellontech.com) headquartered in Fort Wayne and Allegro Microsystems, Inc. (www.allegromicro.com), based in Worcester, Massachusetts, have announced a close working relationship to serve a growing number of small volume sensor application customers.
During recent meetings covering mutual corporate strategies, Excellon and Allegro developed an approach to expand their presence in smaller industrial markets.
A WebEx presentation occurred September 24 from Excellon to all of the Allegro Field Application Engineers and direct North American sales force. Excellon was introduced as a provider of fast, cost effective engineering and manufacturing solutions for magnetic sensor applications. The target customers are small volume (less than 50,000 units annually) users, which may not have capabilities to produce finished sensors.
Examples of customers in this category are users or manufacturers of: electric and hydraulic motors; heavy equipment and machinery; and appliances. A link has now been established on Allegro’s website connecting to the website of Excellon. The link is located on the Design Center page and introduces Excellon for information on finished sensor assemblies utilizing Allegro Hall-effect sensors. Excellon Technologies will utilize Allegro as a sole source supplier of all Hall-effect sensors for existing and future programs. Allegro and Excellon are confident they will grow and prosper together in markets not serviced adequately at this time. “We’re excited to learn of this new working relationship between Excellon Technologies and Allegro Microsystems,” commented Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard.
