History of Excellon Technologies

Excellon Technologies was incorporated in March of 2001 and has grown from a two-person engineering firm to a present day manufacturing company employing a workforce of eighty.  Our products include application-specific sensors, electro-mechanical assemblies such as aerospace and defense communications cables, and contract product verification for GE.  Operations are located in a HUBZone in downtown Fort Wayne in 27,000 square feet of space covered by a long-term lease.

Sales in 2010 totaled $5.8 million.  The Customer base includes high profile Customers, such as:  BAE Control Systems, Undersea Sensor Systems, ITT Aerospace/Communications and General Dynamics.  Sensor Customers include General Electric, Advanced Motors and Drives, Hill-Rom and White Hydraulics.  There are numerous smaller commercial accounts.

Excellon has earned public acclaim for a 2002 Business Expansion; 2004 Greater Fort Wayne Area (Chamber of Commerce) Small Business of the Year; and was named a 2005 Manufacturing and Distribution Business of the Year finalist by BKD, LLP and Indiana Business Magazine.  Also, in 2005 we became an SBA Qualified HUBZone Supplier.  In 2007, 2008 and 2009 we were listed in INC magazine’s 100 fastest growing inner city companies in the United States.  In 2009, we became a Certified Woman-Owned Business.  In 2010, we purchased the GE legacy DC motor and tachometer business.  We were also a finalist for the Economic  Business Alliance Swagger award for investing in and promoting inner-city growth.

On January 31, 2011, Founder and President, John Taller and CEO, Joan Taller sold 100% of the company stock to Jill Sparks (CEO) and Claude Sparks (President).  Jill focuses on Strategy, Administration, and Human Resources.  Claude focuses on Business Development, Engineering and Tactical Operations. Additional staff includes a:  Chief Financial Officer, Technical Sales Manager, and Quality Manager.  Several Engineers are responsible for multi-functional support.  Excellon enjoys support from the City of Fort Wayne, Tower Bank and Trust, and The Economic Development Alliance.
